BURKETTDESIGN served as design architect and project manager for the $9 million conversion and renovation of an existing High School into a Middle School for 510 students in grades 6-8. This was one of three major school projects on this K-12 campus on the growth edge of the Columbus, Ohio Metropolitan area. The District underwent a radical change over twenty years, having transformed from a rural farming community to a bedroom community for Metro Columbus. In order to accommodate current and future enrollment growth, the renovated Middle School building was designed for expansion to accommodate ten years of anticipated enrollment increases.
The 75,000 s.f. of renovations to the single story building reprogramed the building to assure that all educational, communal, and physical education spaces are unique to the needs of Middle School students. BURKETTDESIGN lead the design team in association with Michael Schuster Associates Architects of Cincinnati, Ohio. |
